Peugeout 406 diesel GLX Hdi 110 Bought as cheap car for work, but now surplus to requirments. This is not a showroom car, it has one or two small (shopping ...> )dinks, stone chips and a couple of rust scabs. And the usual things you would expect for the age and mileage. In it`s favour, It still looks respectable when it`s cleaned up, and is the most comfortable car we have ever driven. Even on long drives (as we have done to Cornwall with a family of 2 adults & 3 teenage boys) It also has a towbar with twin electrics. Not much else to say, If you are reading this then you probably already know why you are looking for a cheap peugeot 406 diesel! You are welcome to view, test drive before bidding... It is what it is, and does it`s job with comfort and economy! In an attempt to avoid time wasters: This is a cheap, used, family sized diesel car, please be realistic. Come and have a good look at it... have a drive, and BID TO BUY. It has been a great run around for us, and I`m sure it will be for someone else. TV screen in rear NOT inculed X

Being a company car I needed to take into consideration the usual things such as what extras I could pile on to basic model, what colours it came in and of course emissions and MPG. Well, Peugeot comes up trumps again. The 206 GLX comes with a host of “extras” as standard: stonking Blaupunkt audio system comprising 6 CD auto ... (363 words) by lmspinkprincess1 - written on 28/06/09 (Very useful, 186 readings) Rating: I bought my X reg 206 a year ago and it's been my favourite car of my 4 car history including a peugeot 306, a ford ka and a toyota yaris. The car is visually pleasing and much more contempory and modern looking today than other cars of it's age. The 306 looks like a tin can in comparison. It has smooth lines and is a rounder shape than other box type peugeots and the shape didn't change until 2006. The 1.4 GLX is suprisingly snappy and although I don't know too much about cars, from experience it is much quicker excelerating than my other 1.4 cars which was the ford ka and the peugeot 306. I owned a Rover 100 for three years, and despite its old looks dubious safety features and odd driving position, found it an economical car that would be hard to replace. Peugeot fit the bill and then some with their excellent 206 GLX 1.4 The 206 was launched in 1998 to replace the much loved, but ageing, 205. It was given reasonable reviews, as most thought it had taken the 205?s heritage a little lightly. It was viewed as being a bit too sensible by some, but most agreed that it was an all round good car. I have to say I never liked the 205 much. Sure the GTI was a ... It has all the mod-cons you would expect for the upgraded model. However, just because it has the name GLX which basically means it has heated seats and electric mirrors on top of the bog standard Air-con it is about £200 more to insure. I don't understand, this isn't going to be a reason why someone may steal the car, or a surely isnt a reason that would result in an accident, it's just and extra comfort thing that you will never claim as a result of having things extra bits and bobs. The car is actually a 1999 plate and has done only £50,000 miles which was always going to be a brilliant deal at £1800.
The car is green and looks really new even though it is just over 10 years old, I really think that the fact it is metalic helps the car keep its age. Luckily - for me the car only had one previous owner who I think was elderly hence the mileage is so low for a car of that age. Its a greatly styled car and takes on the shape of the world rally championship car (well, almost). The styling is pretty cool, it has a nice grill in the front bonnet and looks quite smart. The car has great features too, namely, AC (air-conditioning), 6 CD-changer and quite a lot of boot space. The car also has the usual power steering and other features one may expect with a sort of newish car. The car we have is a red colour and was brought second hand and remains a W reg. I have also been assured it is a great car for the driver, and by the way everything else is that really doesn't suprise me. The one major annoyance I found about the 206 was the mess up in the order. When we turned up to pick up our new car on the date given september 1st 2000 we were shocked to hear our car hadn't even been made. So we waited a few weeks, went back for it, and were not so ... The car looks great - it looks more sporty than some of the so called "sports minis" like the Puma or Tigra. The GLX has a great specification ? air conditioning, 6 disc CD changer, rain sensing windscreen wipers and electric windows are all standard on the GLX. The car motors around well, and is quite happy to zip around in town or on the motorway. Acceleration isn't the best though. Neither is fuel consumption. I bought it from Holland saving about £2000 in the process. The first thing that struck me about the car was the body shape. Personally I think it's a really stylish looking car. Much better looking than other cars in it's class like Fiestas, Novas, Clios etc. I've got the electric blue which really makes the car stand out from the crowd. The interior continues the stylish theme of the bodywork, very curvacious. The GLX model comes with a host of great features: air con, a six CD changer, automatic windscreen wipers (which work really well), front fog lights, heated side mirrors, the list goes on. ... Beware the factory heat and air conditioning of this car. It broke down and its been a real b*tch to get fixed, as well as a real hole in our bank balance. You have been warned! (But I *still* love driving this car!) ***** END OF UPDATE ***** After having told you all the horrors of my husband's company car, I thought it only right to tell you all about our personal car - just so you don't think we're suffering on the streets. Just over two years ago our Skoda decided to give up the ghost. Since we were already in the market to replace it anyway, this small disaster wasn't too much of a change in plans. I spent the better part of a Friday morning on the phone with him getting prices and information about several second-hand cars in our price range (which, because of the hugely inflated costs in Israel would be totally irrelevant to quote for you here - even if I translated it into UK or US money). It came down to a choice between two cars and when one owner decided not to accept our offer, we ended up with a 1995 Peugeot 405 GLX. This little baby was apparently owned by some boss-man who traveled abroad frequently. In other words - low mileage (kilometrage, as the case may be) but a bit neglected. For instance, the passenger seat's electric window was somewhat sticky (and still is, but then, I didn't think it important to fix it), and there were some loose things here and there - but nothing that a few pulls with a wrench couldn't handle. The GLX is considered to be the luxury model of this car, and so it is. It has all those nice little extras like the electric front-seat windows, driver air bag, dual breaking system, power steering, factory air conditioning, special adjustable reading light that you can point to the driver's or the passenger's side (in addition to the regular cabin light), fuel injection, vanity mirror, fold down, rear seat, center arm rest that also has a reach-through door to the boot, plush velvet-like seat covers, adjustable lumbar supports for both passenger and driver, adjustable steering wheel, and a driver's seat that adjusts up or down (in addition to the usual forward and back). It was very appropriate that this car was a metallic colour - that being snazzy silver, in fact. Oh, yes, this is really a very fancy car for the year it was manufactured. You want to dress up to drive in it, you do. Why, when I get in and I've not put on make- up, well, I feel like I've cheated this car. And the main reason why it feels like that is because this car is very driver and passenger friendly. It is the absolutely most comfortable car I've ever had the privilege to drive or ride in. The seats seem to welcome you and almost conform to your body. I've even toyed with the idea that when this car dies, perhaps I'll pull the seats out and put them in my salon - they're much more comfortable than my present sofas are! The ride is so smooth that you feel like the asphalt has turned to clouds underneath your wheels. The gears (yes, this is a manual car) shift like a warm knife going through softened butter. The clutch has this spot near the bottom that seems to gently hold it so that if you're in stop-and-go traffic, your leg doesn't get tired from strong pushing to keep it engaged when you have to hold the clutch down often or for longer periods of time. The steering wheel is gently padded so that its easy to hold onto, even when the car's been standing out in the hot Israeli sun. There is practically no play in the wheel, either, so it responds quicky and efficiently to every turn - keeping your arms from getting tired when you need to maneuver the car into that small-ish parking space. This car has a 1600 engine and although the body is fairly heavy, the fuel injection really helps give this car some zip and helps it pull on those steep hills up to Jerusalem. No more having those little bitty sporty cars pass me up - I'm right out there, passing up the slow guys, with the best of them, I am! And there's more, but... I bore you here, don't I? I'm sure that you all want to know what's not so good with this car, as well. OK. I have to admit. All is not perfection in Peugeot-land. This car has a problem. Its a petrol-holic. Yes, my friends, my lovely silver chariot has a drinking problem, and I'm afraid that, eventually, this will be the death of it. We are already considering letting this baby go because she's costing us so much at the fuel pumps. Very sad. But that's not all. Unfortunately, this car also has fairly expensive parts, so when something goes wrong or just goes in for a check-up, its not easy on your wallet either. Now, you're saying, "oh, things have gone wrong with this car. Can't be a good car then, can it?" Well, in all honesty, the previous owner caused most of the problems by his neglect. Had he taken better care of it, most of the repairs I've had to do on this car wouldn't have been necessary. This is what my (very trusted) mechanic informed me. According to him, while the engine was basically in good order, there were things that shouldn't have needed to be done on this car. Even before we told him about the previous owner, he had guessed that this was the case. This was the first time we had bought a used car, so we were obviously learning the hard way of how to go about that. We know better now. I should also mention that the engine purrs like a contented cat, hums quietly while you're on the road and when you turn the motor off, you hear a gentle, elegant sigh as it winds down. The dash has very clear indicators and there's both a speedometer and a revolution counter. There are both front and back fog lights (that I have had very little use for, but still, they're there), which can be activated separately. It also has nice flip-up covers for the radio and the ashtray, so that when they aren't in use, you flip the covers closed and no one can see what's behind them - making that area look clean and tidy. Finally, one thing that is really nice is that the signal indicators have a gentle clicking sound to them, so that if someone is sleeping in the seat next to you on a long drive, when you change lanes, they aren't rudely awakened by a noisy clicking sound. I should mention that although I have a 6 foot tall 17 year old who now has his own driver's license, he sometimes must sit in the back seat - but this car is one of the few that allows him some space between his knees and his chin when he's back there. The rear-seat space is truly one of this car's best features. It also has a boot that's practically cavernous which easily holds shopping for a family of five, which includes that 6 foot tall 17 year old with a stomach akin to a bottomless pit, and a 12 year old brother who is taking eating lessons from him, but their 9 year old sister already has her Ph.D. in the area. But seriously, what's the most important thing when you choose a car? In my mind, its safety, and this is where this car comes up smelling of roses. The body of this car is very strong and it has stabilizer side-bars that protect the passengers in case of a side impact, and I think they also help prevent the car from flipping over. I've been in a couple of situations where someone has bumped me here or there (and yes, I did bump someone once), and my car seems to come away with little to no damage, where the other car sustains easily visible damage. Since the traffic accidents in this country are so very high, this is extremely important to me - especially since I have a beloved husband and three children I love dearly. So you can see that I'm not willing to risk my family's lives for just any old car. I turned down some newer used cars (such as Subaru) because I knew that their safety record wasn't nearly as good as the Peugeot. All in all, I'm glad I got this car, and to my mind, the drawbacks are far outweighed by the advantages. So, if you'll all excuse me, I'll just finish putting on my lipstick here, touch up my hair, a quick brush on the sleeves of my designer suit, and out I'll go for a little pleasure drive - during which I'll gently wave (Royalty-style) at the poor, dirty masses who are forced to drive lowly heaps of tin. Ta-ta, my adoring public, ta-ta! The car shares the same floor pan and running gear as the VW Golf and Audi 3 and much of the trim has come straight out of the VW Audi Parts bin, While touring in Germany in 1999 the engine sump cover a plastic dirt shroud became damaged and was replaced by a VW dealer using a VW Part for a Golf and all paid for under warranty by Skoda (UK). A friend of mine believes that there is a VW part Number on the reverse side of the Skoda Badge! The space in the boot was enormous (bigger than the Peugeot ) the only downside was the amount of rear legroom for tall people and the lack of a centre 3 point seat belt. I no longer have the car as it was written off in an accident last ... sadcrab 14.02.2001 (05.03.2001) · Read full review Ciao members have rated this car review on average: helpful Review of Skoda Octavia 1.9 Tdi Hatchback Similar Cars Product Information Related tags Compare products Gift ideas Cars similar to Peugeot 405 GLX » Rate it now glx 390 Hoods - Chimney/Decorative Hood - 1 motor - Metal Filter - Width: ... Peugeot/Pininfarina styling, for one thing, and the best turbo diesel you can get under £19,000, for another. Some tinkering around with the detailing on what was already a very attractive body has refined the appearance - instead of ruining it, as some recent replacement models of other makes have somehow managed to do. Just look at the way that elegant "shoulder" line catches reflections, and the sleek moulding-in of the headlights. And there is still no turbo diesel in its price category to beat the 110bhp common rail HDi, whose success led Ford to enter into a technical collaboration with the PSA Group which has diesels as the main PSA-to-Ford channel of expertise. The 406 is stylish, roomy and comfortable. Inside, it not only looks better, but is also trimmed with higher quality materials than some previous Peugeots in its class, and is put together with much closer attention to quality control. Seat design is more carefully thought out than in the original 406, and the extra sound insulation benefits the petrol as well as the diesel versions for which it's mainly intended. You can buy the 406 with the lower powered 90bhp HDi, but the 110bhp version suits it better, just as the 90 feels tailor-made for the 306. The 110 is quiet on the move, responsive to the throttle, strong in mid-range acceleration and long-striding on the motorway. What more could you want? It's also, of course, far more economical than the older diesel, which has been put out of its misery as far as the 406 is concerned, although it's still available in some other PSA cars. That engine doesn't seem like one generation back, more like something found in a cliff-face of fossils, so great has been the advance in diesel design over the last three or four years. With all those things going for it, the 406 has another one to add. Peugeot's chassis engineers wouldn't leave well alone. As well as providing really good handling, thanks partly to the multi-link rear suspension, and the kind of supple ride quality French drivers insist on, they've also uprated the tyres and specified ABS with electronic brake force distribution. The result is a car which bullets through overtaking manoeuvres, comes alive when the roads start bending, feels stable and secure, and keeps its cool on dodgy surfaces. And you can admire it just as much when it's simply standing still.
