The UK launch was on 8 June 2006. Amicus and the TGWU, both unions representing workers at PSA's UK manufacturing plant in Ryton, Coventry, chose the same day to launch a campaign calling for the boycott of PSA's Peugeot and Citroën vehicles in the UK. The campaign was in protest against the company's plans to close the Ryton plant. Despite the boycott the sales of Peugeot in UK grew.[2] [edit] Design and specification The 207 is the successor to the 206. The 207 is based on a modified version of the platform used for the Citroën C3, and is built in Poissy and a new plant near Trnava, Slovakia. Initially three petrol engines were available: 1.4-litre 8v with 75 or 16v 90 hp (67 kW) and 1.6-litre 16v with 110 bhp (82 kW; 112 PS). From late 2006, the 1.4 & 1.6 16v models were replaced by the new 1.4 vti 95 bhp (71 kW; 96 PS) and 1.6 vti a 120 bhp (89 kW; 122 PS) Valvetronic engines. Two turbocharged versions, one with 150 bhp (112 kW; 152 PS) , and the other with 175 bhp (130 kW; 177 PS) were also added to the range. The latter four engines result from the cooperation agreement between PSA and the BMW group. The diesel-powered engines available are a 1.4 litre 70 hp (52 kW) or a 1.6 litre HDi with maximum output of 90 or 110 hp (82 kW), the latter with the addition of an intercooler. The 207 is available as a three- or five-door hatchback, a 207 SW Station Wagon and a 207 CC coupé convertible. A GTI version is available with the 175 hp (130 kW) turbocharged 1.6 litre engine. It has sold well in Britain, being the sixth best selling car overall (and third in the supermini sector) in 2007 with more than 67,000 examples being sold.[3] [edit] Concept cars [edit] Peugeot 207 Epure The Peugeot 207 Epure was a concept car presented at the Mondial de l'Automobile 2006 designed to preview the 207 CC coupé cabriolet which followed. RoadTestReports.co.uk takes counsel from the Trading Standards Institute Ro, Derbyshire Peugeot 207 CC 2008 Got a new 207cc Sept 2008 on 58 reg plate, car went into dealership after 5000 miles due to warning light activating after minor collision with kerb in icy/snowy conditions, and was told that along with other steering parts it needed new front discs and pads fitting at a cost of £260 (thats for front discs and pads only) this was due to excessive wear, dont bother mentioning the warranty, they said wear and tear wasn’t covered, but surely parts being made from monkey metal are??????. Anyway to cut to the chase the discs and pads were replaced elsewhere (original Peugeot parts fitted) and since then the car as covered a further 2700 miles during the past 7 months, the vehicle has just been in for service (2 year/20,000 mile service) with 7700 miles on the clock and guess what we got a phone call from the dealership informing us that the front discs are heavily worn and it needs new front discs and pads fitting - cost £260 in addition to service cost. They were only fitted brand new 7 months ago and have only covered 2700 miles, what are Peugeot making their discs out of?????? Are we going to have to replace the front discs and pads every year????? VERY NOT IMPRESSED. Peugeot’s argument is that it’s because there is not enough mileage being done and therefore you get excessive corrosion; how come our other car a Vauxhall which covers less miles per year than the Peugeot doesn’t suffer the same problem? It’s done 5500 miles in 2 years and discs are fine. The Peugeot does round trips of 16 miles 2 to 3 times a week plus general running about, it’s garage kept so doesn’t stand out in bad weather. Should Peugeot warn people and say if you don’t cover at least 10000 miles per year you will have to have new discs and pads annually at a cost of £260 because our warranty covers next to nothing. Responses to this review It’s because the 207 does not have gaurds over the disc, so they go rusty. If you use them every day it’ll be okay but only a weekly run for whatever distance will not remove the corrosion. My car does fairly long trips and does 10k a year but suffers from rusty discs. My wife’s car is used every day for short trips and only does 6k a year and has perfect discs. All you can do is make sure you press hard on the brakes at least once on a journey! I thought it was just my car until reading on here that other people have the same problem. I have lost count how many times its been in the garage, this car is a total nightmare going to ring trading standards tomorrow. Responses to this review Same problem, off the road for over 4 months in 3 years - Zina Mitchell from Cheshire SYDNEY AUSTRALIA. have 2009 model auto 207cc, depollution warning light has just started to appear, dealer has updated software on the car and that seems to have stopped the problem. Car is now awaiting roof testing for leaks in the rubber seals of driver side window to automatic roof. Wondering how they are going to test it for leaks , its supposed to be SOME special test?? Wonder if the apprentice is going to stand there for two hours running the hose over my car to see if the water gets in? Sick of driving my car with a towel! I was told that the dealer has NEVER heard of stories of the depollution light coming on? I was also getting a warning light that my hand break was still on - this would happen after I was driving for 20 minutes - and bang the warning beep would start - It’s quite frightening when you are driving! Believe me I’m NO dummy, my hand break was not on!! Dealer said that my hand brake is a bit loose, they are fixing this also with the roof problem! I’m just hoping that they can fix these little problems and I can get back to enjoying my car! Will keep you posted! - M Nolanski from England I had 206 CC now have 207 CC 1.6 120 GT I never had problem with this car but I can say something about this power loss it could be the petrol. I always try and use big real petrol companies such as BP, Shell .. and always try to buy my petrol from same garage. I do beleive as these engines are new tecnology can better run with 97 octane! When buy 1 tank 97 then buy 95 I did experience engine stall ! Fuel change can be the problem. Get your fuel pump checked and use good petrol from ur regular garage. Good luck P.S I am orginally from Turkey. As we sometimes experience water in our petrol!!! And I do know this will cause many problems with engine! - Serkan Turgut from England I have had my 207CC for almost 3 years and it has been disappointing since the first week. It stalls!!! It has been back to the garage so many times that I have given up taking it back because they can’t find the fault. In 2 months time it is 3 years old and I have to decide whether to take out extra cover in case it is a major item or sell the darn thing. Not only does it stall but I have had countless other little annoying faults. For me I would never buy a Peugeot again. The garage have renewed the sensors 4 times and renewed half of the electrical harness the 5th time. I am selling the car because the warranty runs out this year. The garage said I wasn’t doing enough miles. I only do under 10,000 a year. I had the car serviced because they then said it was that but it still happened. There is obviously a problem with other people’s judging by the other posts I have read but the garage said they had not heard of this fault before. I wouldn’t buy another Peuguot again! Now it’s January, I have to keep my top on (btw it’s not leaking). BUT.... I was really compelled to give it a three. For one I did buy it second hand with 15000KM on the clock (about 10000 miles), and from day one I had the feeling that it lacked power in the lower RPM range. I drove diesel for years before this one, so I thought that it could be an engine type thing, because from 3000 RPM up it flies. AND NOW COMES MY REAL PROBLEM!!! Yesterday I got the Pollution Error that everyone is talking about. I did checkout some other sites in Dutch, and they say it’s just a thing when you drive only short distances, and that you have to drive the pollution out by driving a very long distance and back. Well, the pollution error came right after I had driven 270KM (135KM to and fro), I shut down my car for 5 minutes, switched it on again, and there it was. I called my dealer, because my car is still on warranty, and the dealer said "walk it off. If it’s still there after a week we’ll make an appointment", but if I hear y’all complaining like this.... I DON’T WANNA DIE!!! WHEN I’M DRIVING 150 KM/h (~100MPH) !!!!!!!! Responses to this review It’s not a distance problem. I drive 110 miles every day (55 to work and back) I get the depolution system is faulty warning and some times the turbo drops out. Recently the timming chain came off. If any one is thinking about the extended warrenty buy it mine was just over £400 but it covered the timing chain incident which more than paid for itself. Prior to the timing chain the depolution warning would come and go sometimes it would stay on long enough to get it to the dealer. They still havent got an explanation for what the depoloution system is. Had its 1-month service. Told the Peugeot garage guys at the dealership. They couldn’t replicate the fault. Said they reset the software. However, it’s happening again two days later!! Apart from it being a mild inconvenience and embarrassing because it looks like I’m stalling all the time, twice it’s been downright dangerous as I’ve switched from 4th gear to second to join a road (left turn) but because the engine cut out, the powersteering disappeared and locked, as did the break, so I was unable to change course or speed and proceeded to drift powerlessly into a busy road........ Not good. Thank god no one crashed into the side of me at 60mph!! As a precaution now, i’m having to check the battery light EVERY TIME I want to change gear on approach to a roundabout/junction because I can’t risk pulling out in front of someone and the engine cutting out!!! Annoyed!!!! The garage guys just said "Customer to moniter" the situation. I’m now logging every time this happens and the exact circumstances. Will be requesting a new car if this is still happening in a month. :( Responses to this review I too am having this problem.... bought a brand new 207 Verve at the end of October 2009 and it has stalled on me probably about 4 times, always at night when I’m pulling onto my driveway. The worrying thing is the lights go out and all power goes and if this was to happen on a main road it could potentially be fatal! At first I thought it was my driving but on looking on the internet it seems that all Peugeots are having this problem...scary! I have just called Peugeot who say that it could be that I was in the wrong gear i.e. in 2nd and as it’s all computerised the car might not have liked this gear...hhhhmmmm going to keep an eye on the situation, note everytime this happens and what gear I’m in and then take it into the garage to be looked at. Was interested in getting 308CC 1.6THP150 but wouldn’t touch with a barge pole at the moment. Responses to this review Further to my last report our 207CC has been back to the main dealer twice more. The misfire/lack of aceleration was finally sorted by replacing the cam follower and chain. No sooner had it back than an ESP fault appeared. Back for new ABS brake parts to be fitted. This weekend the engine was started from cold and the electric fan came on immediately together with the depollution warning light. Because I thought it had overheated I had it recovered to the main dealer on the back of a breakdown truck. Then one morning I’m heading to work and it just cuts out, power steering turns off and I’m heading toward a bus stop, there I am with a gang full of people waiting for the bus, in my brand new 207cc with its brand new number plates and its broken down, how embarrassed was I!!! Then if that’s not bad enough the bus came, couldn’t stop in the bus stop because I was in the way. Everyone had to walk out in front of me so they could get on the bus. Depollution System Faulty, Brake Fault, and now get this today (1/4/09) no joke the starter motor (which by the way should be approx 10 years down the line) has gone/burnt out. BUT GUESS WHAT ’that’s ok it’s still under warranty’. Well what is going to happen when it is out of warranty in another 18 months. Phoning trading standards tomorrow to see where I stand about getting it replaced or having my money refunded by PEUGEOT. If anyone can help on how to go about this please please contact me on k.e.guest@live.com Submitted: 02/04/2009 08:51:02 | ID: 2738 Respond to this review | Have your say | Request a quote Michelle, Lancashire Peugeot 207 CC 2007 I am gobsmacked to see all these negative reports. I only bought my 207 CC last Thursday and today I have had a problem with the depollution system and also the brakes. The car lost power and I was quite concerned about continuing to drive the car, which I had to, to get home. I feel rather down now. Will speak to the garage tomorrow and am printing all these reports off to show them. Thanks. Agree it is a lovely car when running. OK, it is a great car to drive, sturdy, quiet and no leaks!! However, within weeks of getting it, it stalled whilst driving for no reason, engine management system came on and depollution warning also showed up. Obviously when it cut out the power steering went - very dangerous. Back to dealer, sorted and the fault returned another two times in the next 6 months; eventually requiring a brand new engine!! To date the car has only done 2000 miles, but only because it travels locally and after 10 months with new engine the same problem has just happened again tonight. Wife hates driving it now and has no confidence. Dealership won’t admit to knowing about similar problems and just keep blanking us as the car is now 18 months old. Any other similar problems - or any advice on how to deal with it? I went to the Dealer who suggested that it was malicious damage to the unit that has caused the problem. I am reluctant to accept this as there is no other sign of damage to the side of the car. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I just love driving it and get admiring looks. It is Flamenco Red with black leather interior. Never had any problems with this beautiful car. Just so smooth. Have done nearly 15000 miles now, so in order not to lose too much money am going to change it for a new Neysha blue. Can’t wait. Would not have any other car, its so stylish. The first 2 weeks were fine, then it rained... it leaks in through the roof where it joins the windows and has been in to the dealer on numerous occasions. According to the dealer, all convertibles leak and it is what I should expect!! Apparently this is what warranty is for. The level of service at the dealership is terrible and to top it off, the car has now developed a serious gearbox fault. I am currently in a battle with Peugeot to get my money back on the car. The top’s down on the first drive, and close to home are some of my favourite twisty roads; roads I know well and for which I have a myriad of different benchmarks for test cars’ performance lodged in what passes for a brain. Sadly, my expectations and preconceptions were pretty much evidenced in the first corner, as the 207 CC turned in quite well but accompanied by some less than pleasant flexing which I expected to get worse as I pushed on. But it didn’t. In fact Peugeot has done a good job of keeping the 207 CC from doing the shake, rattle and roll with its top down. True, a blind man could feel the flexing as you push through a bend, but it’s not especially debilitating to the handling which, although not exactly overtly sporty, is actually more than competent. And it’s the price you pay for some economical, top-down fun. But it’s not a big price. In fact, after an hour or two of blatting around with the top down – and finding myself at least an hour away from where I’d started – I realised that I wasn’t really noticing the flexing any more. And then I realised I’d become a victim of the drop-top-trance. “Really, drop tops are a waste of time as a serious drive. We all kid ourselves we’d like one, but they’re no real fun – however good they are – when you’re driving with your hair on fire.” Really, drop tops are a waste of time as a serious drive. We all kid ourselves we’d like one, but they’re no real fun – however good they are – when you’re driving with your hair on fire. Every drop top I get in to I drive it as I would a coupe, but within a very short time I start to ease off. I cruise. Briskly, yes, but cruising not blatting. I’ve slipped in to the drop-top-trance. And that’s what always happens with a drop top. So why we go out every time to see how much the latest drop top toy flexes, I really don’t know. But we do. In fact, all that really matters is does it go well enough. Well enough to carry off the style statement you’ve just bought. Well enough for you not to look too silly at the traffic light grand prix. And there is no doubt that the Peugeot 207 CC delivers on its promise. Its looks promise a cute, stylish and enjoyable little car. The one area it does fail in is rear seat accommodation. That now old-fashioned two-piece roof needs a lot of space to stow, so the back seats are little more than an upholstered shelf. click next below to continue reading 1 | 2 | 3 next Tags: Auto News, Car News, Peugeot 207 CC GT THP 156, Peugeot 207 CC GT THP 156 Review, Peugeot 207 CC GT THP 156 Road Test, Peugeot 207 CC Review, Peugeot 207 CC Road Test Comments To comment, click on the Forum link above.
